I have been asked to predict the future.

Let’s see if Medium continues to exist in 10 years and I can go back to my post today to see how many of my predictions about the #FutureOfWork and the economy I got right. 😉😁

I have been invited to a forum to offer my ideas about the trends that will mark our futures. I share with you 8 trends to explore with you what else you can think of that is likely to happen in our future…

8 TRENDS THAT ARE GOING TO DECIDE OUR FUTURES

🧫 1. BEYOND HUMAN LIMITS

We will keep pushing the human limits of productivity and the required adaptability of human beings at work. We are going to go so far from what is humanly sustainable that we are going to have two waves:

- first we will suffer massive mental health crises;

- then seeing the most successful organizations obtaining outstanding results thanks to the care and empathy used to develop the unlimitd capacities of the human beings that make up their workforce, we will evolve.

In a few years, we will actually understand what deep wellbeing is + why the broader concept of wellbeing is the only path to success + HOW to successfully implement welfare organizations.

🫀 2. TOWARDS AN IMPACT DNA

The transition to impact-driven organizations. We already see the first impact unicorns (e.g. Betterfly) the first billionaires who run the most purpose-motivated companies (e.g. Patagonia )

To be a good company with the ability to have a strong good answer to the question “how are you helping society, what is your reason to exist?” will become the norm.

🌍 3. RETHINKING MIGRATION

With a rapid aging of the population, the shortage of human resources to allow the “economic machine” of nations will soon become an acute problem. (WATCH World’s population growth and where it will imapct most “half of the next 2 Billion is expected to come from just 8 countries” !) https://www.bbc.com/news/av/world-63624651

It will be necessary to rethink the need to allow open access to a wider and younger population around the world.

Seeing the youth of the developing world as a key asset for the future of the world will make us develop new capacity-building solutions.

It will push us to welcome new people that we need so desperately from currently “undesirable” (for some) nations.

💶 4. RESET OF CAPITALISM, TOWARDS…?

Capitalism needs a restart, it needs to be reinvented.

Every time you press the reset button, a blank screen appears.
Very few people like this blank screen state compared to the current very imperfect but well-known situation.

That is why most (often without realizing it) are currently resisting the necessary transformation.

A new era of coalitions will arise to allow much faster collective progress.

⚖️ 5. RE-BALANCING INJUSTICE?

In the short term, the economic injustice between “south and north” those who have and those who do not will increase, until a global uprising and the wise thought of some extremely rich and powerful people will re-balance a more distributed well-being and wealth.

Or else we will go to Elysium-style extremes with fortified controllers and a large majority of extremely poor.

Access to education and the fast Internet (where knowledge and connections are stored) will determine where we are going.

🤖 6. VIRTUAL AI ASSISTANTS “OUR BEST FRIENDS”

Artificial Intelligence virtual assistants become something so lively and realistic that they will replace most customer-oriented experiences, making each interaction the most pleasant and personalized in history.

It will be especially useful for the care of the elderly in this “human” way that specially older people are most affected by. With current temporary technology and the impersonal interactions they are currently suffering from.

🖲️7. LIMITED METAVERSE AND THE ESCAPE FROM REALITY

The metaverse does not live up to its expectations and becomes a limited, addictive and ideal life experience. Some people will seek to live there satisfactory parallel lives, escaping the unsustainable stress of everyday life.

👩💻 8. OH, HOW WELL YOU KNOW ME… AND INFLUENCE ME

Artificial intelligence will know us better than we know ourselves and its algorithms will influence us to a new level of control over our lives. Whoever owns those algorithms can own many of us.

What do YOU think could be one or two other trends that will determine our futures?
